I grew up in a large family. When I was 11 my mother passed away and I went to live with my Aunt Pat and Uncle John in Port Washington, Wisconsin. With 11 kids and 2 adults, we soon learned that baking and canning wasn't just a way of preserving the summer harvest, but an essential way of life when feeding a large family. Each year in late Spring, the gardens were planted and from late summer to early fall, we were harvesting and canning. I learned everything about canning, pickling and freezing from my Aunt Pat.
Since then, I've taken the art of canning and my passion for fruit, to a whole new level in creating a line of fruit spreads unlike any other. Since opening our doors in 2004, Mudd Creek (formerly known as Butter It Up, LLC) has been committed to providing customers and business owners with superior quality fruit spreads at affordable prices. Each batch is individually made, tested and tasted every time to ensure the maximum flavor. There are no preservatives or additives used in our products.
In the Spring of 2008, we were named a Gallo Family Vineyard Gold Medal finalist. This award is given to those businesses who emulate the same artisinal quality and care that Gallo Vineyards uses in making their wines.
That fall, our oldest daughter, Danielle, was diagnosed gluten intolerant. After three years in the making, we expanded our product line to include gluten free baking mixes. Again, thanks to my Aunt Pat and her wonderful knack for baking, using no recipe and creating the most awesome baked goods, Danielle, and I were able to create mixes that not only taste as good as those made with gluten, but they're sure to satisfy every member of the family regardless of their diet restrictions.
In 2009, we moved to our new location which sits on the banks of Mud Creek in Appleton, Wisconsin and created a dedicated gluten free, state licensed kitchen. We also changed our name to “Mudd Creek” and expanded our product line to include tropical granolas, butter spices/rubs, coffee blends, bloody mary mixes, hot chocolate/latte mixes, cheesecake dips, cream soup mixes and more.
Mudd Creek evokes that old-fashioned quality of life where value means everything. And that’s exactly what you get in all of our products.....quality and value. Plus they’re delicious!
